Is it possible that the Charedim are on something

Is it possible that the Charedim are on something? Think about it, before the internet, information might not be so widespread and one had to work hard to get it and short of physically searching and destroying each and every single copy of a book (which was quite impossible after the invention of the press,) there wasn't really a way to totally wipe out or otherwise hide information. Now, almost like a brain, whole sectors of the shared world information could be wiped at once. Moreover, since we loose the habit to search hard, then the only information that there is, is on the internet as a matter of reality. Whatever somebody bothered to put there and nobody wiped out, exists, and whatever not, does not exist.
Frankly, it is hard to rule the wild internet, but, in the long run it is easier to eliminate information that has no backing of somebody who remembers and fights to preserve any particular piece of data.
On the other hand, groups with ideology and interest in something, are more likely to publish and be passionate about it. Their distorted information is screaming in deafening voice while the dissenting opinions are almost hidden [and could be subject to removal.]
While the Charedim are control freaks on their own right, they know that if a growing child is exposed to that deafening noise indiscriminately, they might grow believe that this is the real world. So the Charedim shut that noise out and allow the child to grow, both in more controlled environment and with the knoweledge that data must be searched hard in volumes of books and not instantly on the internet.
